...And here to Abi... (Chink)

She’s reached that point in life where some people get stuck in a dead end 9 – 5 job, others maybe the army or signing on, perhaps to university and a bright future or travelling the world to ‘find’ themselves. Not our girl, 9-5 maybe but I highly doubt it. Army? It’s definitely an option; we live for the day that khaki and camouflage return, just like in SpiceWorld! University, it’s just another institution. As for travelling, well that’s what the summers for.

18 now that’s a milestone so Happy Birthday!

NTU Fashion Knitwear show

I have always been interested in what the NTU students get up to and was eager to see what their finished designs looked like.
As Nottingham Trent Uni is becoming increasingly known for its Fashion courses, it made my expectations even higher, and it didn't disappoint.
Some designs really caught my eye, with being really inventive and also wearable, it just showed how much talent there is and what particular design students could bring the the Fashion world.
However, some designs I did feel were too 'crazy' for me and I felt they could only be worn on the catwalk and not round the shops. Saying this though, there is more good than bad.
As I sat there happily watching/taking photographs of designs which I wanted to rip of the models and keep for myself, I noticed how they stood out for me, it wasn't the flawless model that the design was placed on (even though they did make them look amazing) it was how unique they made their design by using different patterns and how they cut the material differently. For me, this made me see how much these new graduates had to offer. I am in the mist of trying to contact a few designers and get a little more from them about their collections, but while im in the middle of that, here is a few photo's from the show night. (sorry for not writing for ages, exams taking over my life)

I really liked this design- the skirt especially as it was very in fashion but the colour was really unique and went well with the top.
The textures on these designs were really inspiring, could be a preview of other upcoming designs.

The colour and the unique logo grabbed my attention completely, it made them stand out more compared to other designs

These sixties style designs were also one of my favourites-the powder pink colour is not one I would usually go for, but these designs make them wearable.

I really love pleated skirts at the moment, so seeing these on the catwalk made me remember them. The light colours make them wearable for summer  even though they are knitted and may be heavy material.

Liesje Reyskens

As I am always on the look out for quirky photographers and designers, it was no doubt that Liesje Reyskens would catch my eye.
With her crisp, bright and cleap photography, it gives something different and makes it more avaliable for you to see the idea behind the photo. Below show some of her work, and this is only some of the commercial things she has recently done:

Rookie Magazine

Rookie gives you what you want. We embrace what is happening right now within the world of Fashion, Entertainment and Lifestyle. There is more to life and that is what Rookie is all about – Maria Ahmed, Editor of Rookie Magazine.

The above quotation is only a small part of what Rookie Magazine has to offer. Packed with not only Fashion, but also lifestyle and music- which are the three things I personally would like to find in a magazine.
Rookie will be launching at the end of May, but if you are eager like myself, you can always check out their magazine website here.

Rookie plans to bring a modern audience entertainment in a magazine that not only interests you, but also involves you. Filling you in with interviews from things you should be aware of, to upcoming boutique owners, such as Willa Keswick.

Quirky, 'unafraid of being real' and 'thinking outside the box' are only a few things which describes Rookie. And after receiving a delightful and friendly e-mail from the Fashion editor, it shows only to expect the positive.

As the magazine is FREE it gives you a chance to taste what it has to offer. It also allows you to gain inspiration from if you are a blogger like myself, or even for an art project.

The first issue of Rookie hitting the news stands on Monday 13th June, and its something to be excited about.
With Kate Nash on the cover it is bound to catch your eye, you can see from the above photograph how the magazine is going to look, so keep your eyes peeled!

Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show: Street Style

New York to me is one of those places you will have to visit in a lifetime (luckily for me, I am going at the end of June. Don't hate me please haha!)
Not just for the unique atmosphere, but also the variety of fashionable people there,  New York always brings something different to the Fashion world.
Here I have gathered a few photographs of the street style from an event that happened in good ole NYC; Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show, and I have chosen particular outfits that I admire the most.
To me, most of my outfits have been inspired by street style, and I hope these will be an inspiration too

 Gillian Sagansky, exploring the show.

 Julie Skinner of Postscript Couture

The shoes are my favourite part of this outfit.

Going with the 50's look, this vintage shopper pulls the outfit together with a quirky hat.

Keeping in fashion with a pleated nude tone dress, and also teamed with flat platforms.

Patricia Fox, wearing one of her infamous head pieces which have been worn by Katy Perry.

Everyone knows the fashion icon that Olivia Palermo is, and in this months Marie Claire issue proves exactly this.
After reading through the interview with her in the issue, I began to look at some of her past outfits and found myself adoring and wanting everything that she was wearing.
Below are some photo's, courtesy of marieclaire.co.uk, of Olivia's photo shoot with them;

Olivia's past outfits are also ones to take inspiration from. The way she uses accessories to ensemble and pull an outfit together makes her style more unique;
